As a mad cat lady and proud of it I was devastated when my cat got diagnosed with a terminal illness at aged 17. I hated going to work and leaving him on his own, but now I can see him everyday and know he’s ok, in all honestly I think he’d rather me give him some peace, but that’s cats for you. My other younger cat loves playing with it and gives it a good bashing and it survives happily.
